The Area
Northumbrian is the most northerly county in England stretching from Newcastle up to Berwick-On-Tweed and the Scottish border, with a spectacular coast along the north sea and its inner boundry running up along the North Pennines and Cheviot Hills. If you are travelling up for the wedding then its a great place to spend a few extra days and enjoy the countryside.
Alnwick Gardens
A few miles south of Doxford Barns is the town of Alnwick, which is home to Alwick Castle and its famous gardens.
Bamburgh Castle
10 Miles north of Doxford Barns is Bamburgh Castle. A castle has been on this site since the Anglo Saxon times around 420 AD. It will be familiar as its often used as a filming location, and you can see why.
Holy Island
A few miles further north than Bamburgh is Holy Island, also known as Lindisfarne.. This is a small island just off the coast with a tiday road linking it to the mainland. It is famed as a 7th-century cradle of Celtic Christianity and home to a scenic 16th-century castle
